Final Cut Audio Tip
We have been experiencing some challenges with our sound when capturing our video into Final Cut Pro. We trouble shot it, but, we were unable to see exactly where the problem was coming from.
Problem description:
After capturing the audio from the camera, everything appeared to be fine. Sound levels were great, however, when compressing out to a web-friendly file-- we would lose the audio recorded from the camera (from external mic). Project after project would give us this problem. Great when we captured. Great during editing, but when we spat it out to post online, the result was a very faint audio file. A real head scratching issue.
if it was on the camera (we have been using s Canon HV20 w/ an external boom mic recorded audio. So we did some tests.
Click here to watch a video where you can see what we did to address our audio issue. If you're using an external microphone to help record your audio-- consider these steps during log and capture.
You will need to make sure in the LOG and CAPTURE process to link, or pair, your left and right channels. This will generate a stereo audio file in FCP, thus, making it easier to edit your projects later. This may not be the "SOLVE-ALL" solution, but if you get a faint audio channel issue in the end-- this is a solution. Here are images of what this looks like:
(not linked: will generate L and R MONO audio channels. See link symbol is not dark_OFF)
(linked: will generate a STEREO audio channel. See link symbol is dark_ ON)
We hope that you find this helpful. If you are experiencing similar issues-- hopefully, this will help you will know what to do.
Many thanks for this information. .edu and .gov can be considered as powerful web pages but my problem is usually that they truly will not approve feedback that very easily or post backlinks which would make it tricky for webmasters to have backlinks from these authoritative sites/domains.
